A stunning new venue has opened on the seafront in Chlorakas and with commanding views of the sea, Baracas Lounge is arguably the best place to enjoy a Paphos sunset.
Careful attention has been paid to detail and customer care is paramount as is great service, decor and high quality food and drinks.
Open only a couple of weeks, Baracas is fast becoming popular with word of mouth recommendations. Found just off the coast road and nestled among a number of the hotels, there is ample parking set back from the road. A short stroll down a gentle slope leads to the venue and a breath-taking view.
This is an all-day and night family friendly venue, with a children’s play area adjacent. Outdoor tables, chairs and stools in white, add to the vibe of a by-the-sea location.
The menu is polished and well-constructed and food will be served from Monday. This will include gourmet snacks including sandwiches served on a variety of bread with a choice of fillings. All are served with fries and a green salad. Two pizzas, two platters and an American beef burger will also be included.
Luxury ice cream is sumptuous and thankfully not the usual run of the mill offerings served in some beach side cafes. A sushi menu will be added in a month’s time.
On my visit, I sampled a number of cocktails – not all mine – and they are spectacular.
Ten signature cocktails come in specialised individual glasses or serving vessels, I don’t want to give too much away, but they are a must to try. I was particularly taken with the Katerina, which is served in a faux shell and priced at €8.50, delicious and worth every cent.
Ten classic cocktails, wines from a variety of boutique Paphos wineries, beers, coffees, teas and soft drink are also available.
Baracas is also a great location for a small bespoke wedding, especially as the area is famed locally for a fabled love story, which gave the venue its name.
These days, young couples still visit the cliff of ‘Baracas’ to enjoy the sunset and wish for unconditional and eternal love.
So, while waiting for your true love, or if you’ve found yours, this is a spectacular place to enjoy a drink or a snack and appreciate a truly magnificent sunset.
