Firefighters are trying to bring under control two fires raging around villages in the Paphos area.
Two helicopters, one airplane and eight fire engines are being put to use in the fight to put out a blaze in the Paphos community of Salamiou.
The fire service and community council of Salamiou responded at 10.50am on Monday with help from two leased helicopters and a Forestry department plane.
By late afternoon the fire was partly under control after destroying 25 hectares of dry grass and vegetation.
This is not the first fire to break out this season in the area raising suspicions that they may have been started deliberately.
Meanwhile at around 2.30pm another fire broke out in an area close to the village of Amargeti to which four fire engines and the same two helicopters were called.
