Police in Paphos are looking for a 35-year-old man who allegedly set his dog on another man, causing it to bite him.

According to Paphos police spokesman Michalis Nicolaou, the alleged victim of the attack, a 30-year-old permanent resident of Cyprus, called the police at 3.30pm on Thursday after the incident took place.

He said he went to the 35-year-old’s house to discuss a personal matter, adding that when the discussion got heated, the man set the dog against him. The younger man sustained a light injury on his arm.

The 30-year-old also said the owner of the dog fired a shot on the ground with a rifle he was holding in order to intimidate him.

The 35-year-old is now wanted for the illegal possession of a firearm, using a firearm in a residential area with intent to cause damage, threat and assault.
