The Friends Hospice in Paphos will host a free concert on Sundayw as a thank you to its supporters.
The daytime musical and dance event will take place in front of the castle in Kato Paphos.
Hospice spokesman Colm Connolly said that the free open-air concert will feature a wide variety of performers and artists.
“All of them have volunteered their time and talent, without charge, as their recognition of the palliative care offered by the hospice to the people of the Paphos district,” he said.
Since its inception in 2006, the hospice has treated more than 1,150 patients, offering free palliative and respite care to patients suffering with life-limiting illnesses, and their families. It is housed in a dedicated six-bed wing at St. George’s Polyclinic in Paphos.
Chris Jones, President of The Friends’ Hospice Foundation said: “Like those of us who oversee the hospice, these dancers and musicians want to show their appreciation of the countless hours and selfless work which our volunteers have devoted to the charity during the past ten years.”
He added: “We all want to say ‘thank you’ to all of the people of the Paphos district, who have supported us during the last decade.”
The concert will get underway at 11am and the event is expected to run until 3pm. Refreshments and food will be available. Artists due to appear at the event include: ‘The Harmonettes’, made up of three professional female singers, the Orphean singers, the Christina Kampanella dance school and a variety of traditional Greek bands and rock groups.
It costs around €300,000 to operate the hospice a year and it is financed almost completely by fundraising events, income from their charity shops and donations.
